its been weeks after morakot strikes & we can see everyday from the news dat the taiwanese (to be more specific those who survived the Morakot) r scolding the govt of their weakness / uselessness in reacting to this catastrophe. they blamed the govt for reacting so slowly, despatching rescue teams only days after morakot hit. i am not one of them, but i can feel their despair & agony for losing their loved ones. their desperation in seeking help from the govt to rescue those trapped in remote areas.
but... how can they ask the president to step down bcoz of this? its not their fault morakot came... the president is not fast enough to appear in public to show some concern for the ppl.
they are really slow in sending rescue troops down to affected areas, BUT have u ever wonder if they were to react faster, more troops would be buried alive underneath due to the continuous landslides? more helicoptors would be blown away and crashed bcoz of the strong wind & rain? do they wan their fathers, husbands and sons to save lives while risk getting sucked away by the muddy floods instead? i personally think dat more ppl would have died if the rescue teams / troops were to be at affected areas. not only the villagers, but also the rescurers.
the media is another problem. they realli wow-ed mi by reporting 1 of the ministers going to the salon to dye hair, another celebrating father's day at a restaurant. so there arent any privacy for public known figures there. during the official press conference held, local together wif foreign media, shoot qns to the president like he's not the president. hmmm, i have no knowledge about mass communications, but is dat the way to speak wif / question a president? i wouldn't even if i hated him. or maybe this country is too democratic. maybe im juz used to the sgp way of ruling the country. rule by rule, law by law. some policies are damn sickening but at least its orderly.
they think dat the president shld take responsibility by stepping down. so if the president really steps down, how u wan to help the casualties? who to help those who lost their homes? is dat a responsible way of doing things?
while we mourn for the lost innocent lives, we shld take a step back and think wat is the best solution for the future.
